Fire Island & Philadelphia

FIRE ISLAND - New York
Sunday 24th - Tuesday 26th August
It took us around three hours to get from eliza's house back to Long Island in new york. We stopped off to visit Camp Tioga's partner day camp Driftwood for an hour and bumped into the owner and director when we were there and were given a little tour in a mule (not a donkey,  a mini golf cart.)
Then we carried on to the local ferry station in Long island and got a 20 minute ferry across. I've not got a lot of photos from the two days as the majority of the time was spent on the beach!! But we had been invited to the island by one of the parents, Nina, who work at camp along with some other families.  They rent a lovely little beach house literally 30 seconds away from the beach. There are no  cars on the island as it is so small and it was such a beautiful place for us all to relax together and we were made so welcome!

Philadelphia
Tues- Wednesday 27th
We stayed until tuesday morning, when we got the ferry back over. We then had what was supposed to be a 2-3 hour drive turn into a 4-5 hour journey due to New york city traffic (horrendous by the way) to Philadelphia.
We stopped here for the night and got a great deal on a lovely room at the Hilton!
The next day we did a wizz around tour of the city. It also turned out that Lauren and Sophie were there that day and so we did our sight seeing together as a big group. We bumped into the local football team's homecoming which was like a carnival in the street, saw the Love Fountain and went to the liberty bell. The "philly cheese steak" is also a notorious symbol of Philadelphia, with two rival companies opposite the street from each other. Obviously we HAD to go and sample one and see what it was all about.  Delicious!!!!
We then had our flight to Las vegas which arrived late on Wednesday night after flying through a lightening storm (one of the coolest/ scariest things I've seen!)
